What is New Commerce Experience?
Microsoft’s New Commerce Experience was launched in November 2019 in the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program to help partners expand opportunities for business growth. The latest changes in 2021 introduced perpetual licensing in CSP, seat-based products for Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Power Platform. Microsoft strives to enable digital transformation capabilities for partners to address how customers choose to purchase, reduce complexity with license pricing and accelerate business growth.
How will NCE affect Direct Partners?
Changes with pricing guidance, annual team commitment will allow partners to lock deals with pricing sold for the entire year and monthly commitment will be priced at a 20% premium. Transactions will happen through a single contract i.e., Microsoft Customer Agreement. NCE will provide flexible buying opportunities for customers allowing customers to adopt new services and manage existing licenses easily.
What benefits customers will have with NCE changes?
Customers will have more choices as most Microsoft products are now available as cloud-based including the new Windows 365 with NCE offering trial as well. Customers will have the benefits to switch easily from monthly subscriptions to annual commitments to managing costs. Customers can now purchase perpetual along with cloud services moving away from the Open License Program.
Can I cancel my subscriptions? What about the refunds?
A cancellation policy will be applied for all billing terms within NCE changes. Microsoft will support customers to cancel subscriptions only within an initial 72-hour window since the purchase with pro-rate refunds. After 72-hours, the cancellation will not be applicable.
Can Legacy and NCE subscription run side-by-side?
Legacy subscriptions can remain in effect until each subscription term ends. However, after June 2022, legacy customers will have to renew subscriptions in New Commerce Experience until each subscription expires to manage service continuity.
What is the impact on renewal date when a subscription is suspended?
There is no impact on the renewal date when a subscription is suspended. The billing will continue as per the plan, however, only the admin will have access to the subscription.
Can I migrate a legacy subscription to NCE monthly terms?
Yes, you can but with a 20% premium.
